Sabt Al-Alaya Village and its traditional market are located in the center of Sabt Al-Alaya City near King Khalid Road. The city is considered the primary commercial hub of the governorate and offers most essential services, including a general hospital, post office, numerous schools for boys and girls at all levels, a police station, and civil defense services.
Sabt Al-Alaya is an ancient heritage village dating back more than 1,000 years. It was named “Al-Alaya” due to its construction on an elevated hill and “Sabt” after the large market held next to the village every Saturday, which attracted people from surrounding areas for trade. The village contains a central congregational mosque known as Al-Sidrah Mosque or the Old Mosque, a name given to the oldest mosques in Islamic cities.
