The Authority’s vision is for the Aseer Region to become a year-round global destination, inspiring harmony between authenticity and modernity, built upon its strengths of heritage and nature. The Aseer Region will become a leading global tourism destination and a hub for entertainment, culture, and indoor activities within and beyond the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, achieving a balance between development and preservation. We will become a cohesive and inclusive society in the modern world and a globally recognized leader in protecting the natural environment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Authority’s objectives include achieving integrated regional development, ensuring effective coordination among active development entities, and delivering high-quality implementation of infrastructure projects.
Tourism is our priority. We primarily are responsible for provide tourism services to middle-income citizens, while ensuring integration with other tourism destinations and strengthening the Aseer Region’s distinctive position on the global tourism map. Aseer possesses numerous unique cultural and natural assets and is distinguished by its diverse topography across five geographic levels: coasts, escarpments, mountains, plateaus, and deserts. This is pursued through its three main pillars (People – Economy – Land). Our strategy is responsible for attract approximately 9 million visits by 2030, which is three times the current leisure tourism visits, with growth driven mainly by domestic entertainment and international tourism.
Adopting a comprehensive approach that ensures integrated coverage of economic, social, and environmental aspects. To achieve this, four guiding principles are followed: prioritizing assets and their sustainability. working with and for the local community. developing for the future (resilience and balance). engaging the local community and ensuring shared benefits. celebrating local cultural landmarks. preserving authenticity. giving special attention to cultural richness. and bridging the gap between local culture and tourists from outside the local culture.

It is a regional development authority established by Cabinet Resolution No. (475) dated 05/07/1439H. The Authority is administratively linked to the Council of Ministers in accordance with Article Three of the regulations governing regional and city development authorities. Its role includes:> Setting general policies for the development and growth of the region. Preparing, approving, and updating comprehensive strategic plans, studies, and master plans for the region and their implementation programs when needed. Direct supervision of planning, design, and execution of strategic programs and projects, including related operation and maintenance works. Reviewing and approving development plans, programs, and projects related to the Authority’s scope prepared by government entities, public authorities, and civil society organizations to ensure balanced regional development. Monitoring the planning of infrastructure projects in coordination with relevant authorities. Prioritizing the implementation of programs and projects in line with development plans. Following up on the implementation of programs and projects, ensuring their execution in coordination with relevant entities, and applying urban performance indicators aligned with approved development objectives. Proposing expropriation of certain properties for regional development in coordination with the municipality and relevant authorities, in preparation for completing legal procedures. Supervising the rehabilitation of existing urban neighborhoods, including historic areas, improving them, addressing informal settlements, and upgrading them socially, economically, urbanistically, security-wise, and environmentally. Preparing and approving building regulations and land use controls that support development plans. Reviewing and approving land subdivision plans. Establishing and managing a unified urban database and information systems to serve as a reference for all relevant development entities. Coordinating and organizing efforts among entities involved in regional development in accordance with approved studies and plans. Developing programs, frameworks, procedures, and incentives to encourage private sector participation in development goals and project implementation.
The Asir Digital Portal offers more than 60 digital services for individuals, businesses, and government entities. It aims to complete all transactions electronically without the need for in-person visits.
