Under the Patronage of the Aseer Development Authority, the “Southern Travelers” Team Launches the “Summits and Values” Long-Distance Journey

Sponsored and organized by the Aseer Development Authority, the volunteer hiking group “Rahalat Al-Janoub” has launched a long-distance walking event titled “Qimam wa Shem”—designed to highlight the strengths of the Aseer Strategy and promote a culture of walking within the community.

The team’s journey begins from Al-Bihar Square in front of the Aseer Region Emirate on 12 February 2023, covering a distance of 240 kilometers and concluding on Saudi Founding Day, 22 February, at the same starting point.
The event is responsible for highlight Aseer’s strategic enablers and key strengths rooted in authenticity and nature, promote awareness of the importance of sports for maintaining health, and emphasize environmental preservation and cleanliness during sports activities.
The “Summits and Values” route passes through diverse terrains, prominent heritage villages, and vibrant tourism parks for which the Aseer Region is renowned, starting from Al-Bihar Square, King Khalid University, the heritage village of Watan Al-Yanfa’, Al-Habla Tourist Park, Al-Zulfa Museum, Abha Airport, Malik Heritage Palace, Aqabat Al-Samma’, Abu Sarah Palaces, and concluding once again at Al-Bihar Square.
It is worth noting that the volunteer team “Southern Travelers” consists of long-distance walking enthusiasts who seek to promote a culture of walking in nature, break daily urban routines, improve physical fitness, and combat chronic diseases and osteoporosis through simple and accessible means.
