Under the Patronage of Aseer Development Authority, “Rahalat Al-Janoub” Launches the “Qimam wa Shem” Long-Distance Trek
Sponsored and organized by the Aseer Development Authority, the volunteer hiking group “Rahalat Al-Janoub” has launched a long-distance walking event titled “Qimam wa Shem”—designed to highlight the strengths of the Aseer Strategy and promote a culture of walking within the community.
The trek began on February 12, 2023, from Al-Bahar Square in front of the Aseer Governorate headquarters and stretches over 240 kilometers. The journey will conclude on Saudi Arabia’s Founding Day, February 22, at the same starting point.
The event aims to spotlight Aseer’s strategic enablers and key strengths—such as its heritage and natural landscapes—while raising awareness about the importance of physical activity for health, and encouraging environmental cleanliness during outdoor sports.
The “Qimam wa Shem” journey passes through a series of culturally and geographically significant sites, including: Al-Bahar Square, King Khalid University, Watan Al-Yanfa’ Heritage Village, Al-Habla Tourist Park, Al-Zulfa Museum, Abha Airport, Malik Heritage Palace, Al-Samma Canyon, Abu Sarah Palaces, concluding back at Al-Bahar Square.
“Rahalat Al-Janoub” is a volunteer group made up of nature walking enthusiasts. The team’s mission is to promote outdoor walking as a way to break urban routines, improve fitness, and combat chronic illnesses and osteoporosis—through the simplest and most accessible means.
