The Authority’s participation aimed to spotlight promising prospects in Aseer’s tourism sector under the umbrella of the “Invest Saudi” initiative.

As part of its presence at the forum, the Authority set up an informational booth in the accompanying exhibition and engaged in dialogue sessions and investor meetings with global stakeholders.

The forum opened with a panel discussion titled “Tourism Investment Enablers,” featuring Eng. Sultan Al-Shehri, Executive Director of the Investment Sector at the Aseer Development Authority. He further noted that Aseer’s development strategy is centered on tourism, leveraging the region’s unique human and natural assets. Investment in the region has reached tens of billions of riyals, reflecting the broader national ambition to transform Aseer into Saudi Arabia’s top tourism destination and an international year-round attraction.

Compared to other global destinations, Aseer seeks to strike a balance between quantity and quality by fostering sustainable investments that preserve the region’s natural, cultural, and heritage assets. The city of Abha, located in Aseer, has also been nominated as part of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup—a milestone that is expected to unlock new, high-caliber investment opportunities in the region.

The Authority’s participation in the forum coincides with the conclusion of the summer season, which witnessed exceptional tourism figures. Aseer welcomed approximately 1.12 million tourists over the past seven months, with total visits increasing from 6.8 million in 2022 to 7.6 million in 2023.
