Aseer Development Authority Launches “Aseer Innovates” Hackathon to Drive Technological Innovation for People, Land, and Economy

The Aseer Development Authority has officially launched the “Aseer Innovates” Hackathon (#عسير_تبتكر), in partnership with several government entities. This initiative is part of the Authority’s broader efforts to realize the goals of the Aseer Region Strategy and position the region as a hub for innovation and creativity across multiple sectors.

The hackathon aims to harness the potential of Saudi youth and local talent to develop innovative digital solutions aligned with the three pillars of the “Qimam wa Shem” Strategy: People, Land, and Economy. Multidisciplinary teams from across the Kingdom will compete to create technology-driven projects that address key challenges and shape a better future for the region.

Engineer Ali Al-Raqdi, Director General of Technology and Digital Transformation at the Aseer Development Authority, emphasized that the hackathon is part of a broader series of technology-driven initiatives designed to build sustainable digital capabilities among Aseer’s youth. He noted the Authority’s commitment to cultivating an enabling innovation ecosystem, fostering a culture of collaboration, and transforming bold ideas into viable, real-world solutions.

Al-Raqdi added: “We invite all passionate innovators from across the Kingdom to take part in the Aseer Innovates Hackathon and present cutting-edge solutions that will enrich the region and help fulfill the aspirations of our visionary leadership.”

The hackathon will take place in two main phases: a virtual round from July 31 to August 2, 2025, and an in-person round from August 14 to 16, 2025, hosted at King Khalid University. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony recognizing the top-performing teams, with prizes totaling SAR 450,000. The outcomes of the hackathon are expected to make a tangible impact on sustainable development in Aseer and further elevate the region’s status as a national and regional innovation leader.
